Toohig Tidbits: December

John and I walked the trash out to the curb one night, and Cress came screaming after us (in shoes and a jacket, mind you), "What are you thinking?! You can't go outside without a child!"

Cressey says "side words" for 'sideways.'

How else do you wait for your mama and sister at the optometrist other than kicking your bare feet up??

This has become a favorite spot for everyone and every animal in the house. Blue will often sit there when it's off and wait for it to come on.

Too tired to even get up on the potty before bed

Got herself completely dressed on her own (I had to zip up her jumper). Might have taken 20 mins, but she DID it!

We had to take Momo for an eye check up, and we missed him so much that we let him ride home 'free.' He loved looking out the window!

HG telling Cress a bedtime story

Underfoot kitties with daddy when the mean ole vacuum is running downstairs

The elves brought the girls reindeer pets! Meet Star (and Jingle, not pictured). P.S. She has worn this dress for EVERY SINGLE HOLIDAY EVENT POSSIBLE.

Cousin cookies! Making cookies with Sadye, Amery, and Susan

I looked down and noticed Cress was making individual buttons for the snowman

Getting ready for our Santa party! The throne was a hit in the neighborhood. We even had teenagers knock on our door and ask if they could take pics!

While the girls were out there playing around, John came from inside the house and SCARED them to death. So funny!

Brandy stopped by one morning after work, and since she helped me get my porch picture perfect, I rewarded her with mimosas!

Passed out after the Santa party

HG had to make an ornament to go along with her Jesse Tree at school. We thought her apple turned out beautifully.

Momo is so helpful with homework

As part of their Christmas gift, we gave them a subscription pottery kit from Muddies where you form your own pottery project with the clay they send you and then mail it back to them to glaze and fire. We will see how this turns out! They had a lot of fun getting muddy though.

I see you, Mo!

Always fun to have a friend ride home with you!

6th grade 2020-2021

JK 2020-2021

HG had a writing assignment that she needed to write about an important lesson learned. She chose the experience of becoming a big sister. So proud of her!

I had start wrapping gifts, and the girls were so happy to see presents under the tree at last! Cress came to me crying though because she didn't see one for mama and asked what I wanted for Christmas. I told her to draw something for me, so she went away and came back with this drawing of a snow globe with her inside, complete with her long and curly hair.

Cress has perfected that dead eye look

Both girls' school pics from JK

Cressey's teachers wanted to include the parents somehow since there wasn't a program this year, so they set up days/times for parents to play a 'guess the christmas item' game. Ours was 'wreath,' and we sent in a craft for the kids to make too. When I popped up on the screen, Cress was SO EXCITED and kept waving and waving. So cute to see all of them!

The lower school videoed their program so that the parents can see it later. HG had to dress like Santa for their dance.

Cress got to video chat with Santa and Mrs. Claus! She was so shy that she wouldn't talk directly to him, instead whispering responses through Ms. Amy. She did ask for a remote controlled unicorn though...brand new request!

Sometimes you just need a mid-afternoon hug from Daddy

The girls have loved this Meri Meri nativity advent calendar and love getting to open a new door each morning.

Feel an extra bit lovey at breakfast one morning

Cressey has an elf in her classroom, and Ms. Amy was showing them some treats he brought one morning. Love seeing Cress up on those tippy toes.

Bubba turned 98!!! Granddaddy, Spiffer, Uncle Rod, and Aunt Sharon took her to Seafood Junction where they used the side room just for her and limited which waitresses could come in. She had fun getting OUT to celebrate!

The girls' last day of school, Dec. 18th, was a Christmas pj casual day!

Real life

The elves wrote back to HG's letter

Cressey's friend invited her to lunch and the nail salon after their half day, and Cress was SO EXCITED to ride in her car to meet us at Taziki's.

Found this sweet homemade gift in Cressey's bag...coaster with Cress 'holding' a string of Christmas lights

Holiday dinner date night with the Ducks

This cat is never far away

Sweet treats from a very sweet neighbor

Brandy gave the girls play dough and tools for Christmas, and they play with them constantly.

More sweet treats- and eager girls to eat them!

HG's 'spider cat' adequately shows how we all feel about 2020!

We tried to recreate our cousin Susan's icing on some Pillsbury sugar cookies, and we have to say, it came out pretty dang well!

On December 21st, Saturn and Jupiter were the closest together than they've been in 800 years. Both girls are really into planets (thanks to a space unit at school for HG), so this was a big deal. We headed to the CBHS parking lot to get a good view of the southwest sky, and we had a lesson in binoculars. It was hard to see more than two shining lights, but even the moon was stunning that night. And I doubt this will be the last time HG will be hanging out of a sunroof in the CBHS parking lot!

A clingy Mocha will find his way up to John's office when the house gets too quiet.

The robe has been a big hit

It's ALWAYS the middle finger that gets injured...

Helping me make casseroles for Christmas

Cress loves to crack eggs but hates to get eggs on her hands

New tricks

Those little baby hand dimples

An afternoon visit with Corkie

"Playing mommies" is a new favorite game with these sisters, although HG lost it when it went to this level of mommies...

She was pretending to be an angel and had Angel Gabriel on the phone...

This ball on a chain toy (Skip It) has been a constant source of entertainment

Clingy #1 (Cress) & Clingy #2 (Mo)

HG and I put training wheels on one of her old bikes that's a little taller than the one Cressey has been riding. We were pretty impressed with ourselves!

Cress was squealing with excitement while we got the wheels on, and then she panicked when she actually hopped on. We just made it one lap of the driveway.

So we got help tightening the training wheels, and the next day she was a whole new kid and rode up and down and up and down the street!

New tricks from sis too

See ya, 2020! (HG was on the other couch making a PowerPoint on the top 5 horses she wants)

My kind of NYE

When your sister is 11 and watches YouTube 24/7, you pretend to be a YouTuber...

Shaking the booty

John and I often tell the girls that we have to have a bite of their food to see if it's 'poisonous,' and now they've taken up on that same excuse to steal each other's food. So funny to hear Cressey say that big word!

HG and Blue had a pretty good hide and seek game
