Mother's Day on the Farm

We decided to take a laidback approach to Mother's Day this year and booked reservations at Cedar Hill Farm. It rained all night Saturday and during the morning Sunday, and we were constantly watching the radar. We saw a break in the rain around 11:00, so we decided to try to make a go of it. I'm so glad we did because it didn't rain a bit while we were there, and the girls had a BLAST running and playing amongst the mud! I brought rainboots, towels, and a change of clothes, so we were all happy on the ride home.

As we sat down for our brunch in the cafe, I asked if they served mimosas. The waitress told me it was BYOB which I had not read in the fine print of the emails, but not to fear- Grandma to the rescue! As her gift to me and Spiffer (and unknowingly about the BYOB clause), she had gifted us a cooler with a cold bottle of orange juice, a small bottle of bubbly, and an adorable insulated cup! We laughed and laughed at how perfect it was!

We all were filthy by the end of our day but also felt happy and loved on our special day!

Look how much HG has grown over the years!

Cress was not keen on trying the zip line, but HG was able to get her on it once as long as she walked beside her the whole time.

Muffins with Mom

Twice in one week, again masked and spread out, I got to go on campus to see Cressey for her Muffins with Mom morning. The kids sang us a beautiful blessing song, and we moms were bursting with pride getting to see our babies perform together and in person. HG made our photo frame sign, the same one John used for Donuts with Dad, and Cressey and I made a muffin craft together. She had also planted a plant for me, and so far, I've been able to keep it alive! I'm so happy to be able to participate in these special school days with my baby at long last.

HGT's Shine Ceremony: Leaving Lower School

On May 5th, we were invited to school to celebrate Helen Grace's 'graduating' from lower school with their sixth grade Shine Ceremony. The girls had so much fun planning the ceremony and worked hard to make it personal and special. John and I loved getting to be on campus with Helen Grace FINALLY, albeit spread out and masked, and we loved seeing how grown up she and her classmates were. We enjoyed sharing dinner together afterward too. We are so proud of the young lady Helen Grace is becoming and can't wait to see what adventures and accomplishments that junior high will bring!

Mother's Day Surprise Reunion for Bubba

After more than a year of separation during quarantine, my aunt and cousin planned a Mother's Day weekend surprise family reunion for Bubba at Thistledome on May 1st. All the women and girls of the family were there to welcome Bubba who was greatly surprised! We had such a good time reuniting and catching up on the last year's activities, and we loved getting to just be TOGETHER!

Toohig Tidbits: April

I was explaining to Cressey one afternoon while we waited to pick up HG from practice that we couldn't play on the playground, that sissy needed to go home and do homework and take a shower. She piped up, "Oh! She is NOT going to like that!"

Cressey explaining to a friend at ballet- "If you talk and don't pay attention, it'll take longer and then we'll have to do it all over again."

Cressey- "I wished everyone would stay alive until they are dead"

This is Mocha's favorite place to sleep, on my pillow with his hand on my shoulder

HG wanted to trick Cress by telling her "the toilet was smoking"

As part of our Easter decorations, I showcased the girls Wolfe bunnies that Spiffer has collected for them. Cress would sit up here forever, playing with the bunnies.

While laying here playing with her daddy, Cressey runs her hair through John's hair. She says, "Your hair is prickly." John responds, "Only the gray ones are; the brown ones are still soft." She pauses, then says, "Where are the brown ones??"

Blue can often be found in HG's office during the day

Grandma came over to make Easter cupcakes and dye eggs

It's butterfly time of year!

Birthday party fun

Little sisters' club at the ball field

Endless fun with Cressey with a flashlight and HG with a kitten- they were acting out the scene with Simba in the Lion King here.

Easter bonnet parade day! HG made her hat

Parents were finally able to come on campus for the first time this school year for an Easter egg hunt on the soccer field! Each child had to find the eggs with their assigned number on it.

Boys on the next field over are MUCH more exciting that what's happening on their field!

The day AFTER her birthday party...this girl does NOT nap. We were worried she was sick, but she slept two hours and then went to bed at normal time. She was just worn out!

I handed Cressey some of the leftover plants from her birthday party and asked her to find them a new place in the house. I found her perfectly balanced arrangement later.

Found these sweet love notes in a folder or stack somewhere

After school date with Norah

Loved opening birthday cards with CASH in them!

While HG was fixing her hair one morning, Sunny came RUNNING past her feet and jumped straight into the bathtub. Right on his heels was Cressey. and she DOVE in the tub right after him! HG couldn't stop laughing!

Last game of the year, they got to play a bit and took turns sliding into home plate

Tell me you have a softball player without telling me you have a softball player
