Jackson Trip- Overnight!

Cressey hasn't spent the night in Jackson in a very long time (August 2016 when Glo's A/C went out and gave C her first hotel stay!), but since she did well on the road trip to the lake and she's better at sleeping in a bed now, we thought we'd try again. We struck out the first weekend of February with the help of Spiffer and GD. It was Grandparents' Day at school, so after HG came home with them, we hit McAlister's for (a very long and crowded) lunch and then got on the road.

By the time we made it to Jackson, it was pushing 5:00, and the girls were READY to get out of the car. (Cressey did sleep for a teeny bit on the drive.) We found a great park in Madison and let them run wild for a bit until the sun went down. Then we met our family for dinner at Newk's. When it was bedtime at Aunt Glo's, we started with Cressey on her toddler blow up mattress which she thought was great...until she saw HG and I get into the beds in the same room. Obviously, she ended up in the bed between us, but everyone (but mama) slept pretty well.

Saturday morning, we grabbed Krispy Kreme and headed out to see Reba and her family. HG took her hoverboard to play with Leighton and was in heaven. Cress loved just following around the big girls, and that went relatively well with the big sisters. Mid afternoon, we headed back over to Gloria's/ Nana's and then met up with Suzanne for a sweet treat at Fine and Dandy before hitting the road.

I'd consider the trip a success if the hardest part was enduring the 'are we there yet's,' and it was a huge plus that all of us actually got some sleep! We loved getting some much needed family and friend time too, so we'll be back sooner than later!

2018-2019 School Pictures

Cressey PK2
(her second attempt at a pic went much smoother than the first one, although I'm thankful you can't see her holding my hand off the side of the pic)

Cressey's First Grizzlies Game

On January 21st, MLK Day, we took Cressey to her first Grizzlies game. She was so excited to go to the game and explore our seats...UNTIL the fireworks went off as they announced the team. We almost lost her then! She was finally able to calm down and recover, thanks to popcorn and Dippin Dots. She made it through the third quarter, so we'll call that a success!

Cressey's First Dance Class

On January 10th, Helen Grace tried out a new hip hop dance class. As Cressey and I sat and waited in the hallway, I noticed that a few little ballerinas started to drift in and head into the classroom RIGHT in front of us. Of course, Cressey noticed too and started becoming increasingly interested in joining them. It turned out to be a 3 & 4 year old ballet and tap class. When she realized that she wasn't going to get to join them, her frustration reached a fever pitch, and we had to walk outside several times to calm down.

Needless to say, I called them the very next day and explained that she was interested in the class and that we were already there, waiting on her sister who was taking a class in the next room. I didn't even have to beg. They were very quick to offer to let her come the following week and try it out and see how she did. So begun the long wait of Cressey asking every morning when she woke up, "Dance day?"

The night (or two) before her dance class, she slept in her tap shoes. In the morning, she proudly told me, "Mama, I tap all night long!"

Finally on January 17th, it was her big debut! She couldn't be happier and basically skipped into the classroom. Even closing the door behind her, waving bye to mama! When the class was done, she cried and cried, not wanting to leave. It's obvious that she's got a new passion!

Still not happy to leave her class at the end, but having sissy there to cheer for her made her a little happier.
