Key West

We were invited by some of dear friends to join them in Key West for a special birthday celebration over MLK weekend...only a week after we returned from St. Lucia. Eek. We couldn't say no, but man, our girls weren't happy with our leaving them again so soon! They sure are watching our every move these days! We had a great weekend with friends, and honestly, I didn't realize how much I missed and needed in-depth, face-to-face connection with my friends! It was so special!

Off we go!

I've been to lots of airports, but none like the Key West one! This is in the middle of the luggage claim!

Celebrating the birthday boy

We made it to The Reach Resort and headed straight to the pool

Thank you, I'll have another!

Aaaand then the 2:30 a.m. wake up call caught up with us...

Meanwhile, back at home...

Dinner at DJ's Clam Shack on Duval Street

Bedtime at Spiffer's

Beautiful sandcastles were everywhere- this one even with Christmas lights!

Saturday late morning...to the playground for the girls and back to the pool for the parents...

Iguanas came to say hello to us poolside

A local eco conservation group came to the courtyard to show us some critters from the nearby coast.

Sea urchin

A sea slug that will shoot water at you if he's annoyed (which he did) or his intestines if he's REALLY mad (which he didn't do).

See it 'teeteeing' on Katie????

Brittle sea star

Conch

Dinner at Louie's Backyard. It was literally right outside the back gate of the Reach and a *beautiful* classic restaurant right on the water with mostly outside seating and a large bar. A must do for your trip.

This little copper pot of goodness (lobster and cream) was decadent, and this crab cake tower thingie was tasty too! I'm still dreaming about their chocolate brownie creme brulee. Brownie on the bottom, creme brulee on top!

Brunch at Camille's

Southernmost Point

This place is COVERED in chicken

Hemingway's house

And one of his cats...

Despite the craziness of Duval Street, cops were telling people to 'Mask up!'

Southernmost house in the US

Right before he got splashed by a wave...

At home, we sent a little surprise/ bribe to keep the natives happy and from being too mad at us for leaving them again. Glamp901 surprised them with an inside camp out in teepees in the living room. And they even brought a cake!

Heading out to Sunset Key for dinner at Latitudes, the highlight of our trip

This night and place were magical! Beautiful at sunset and beautiful in the dark with the lights all over. Food and service were impecable!

More iguanas...had no clue they could climb like this

One last touch of the ocean before we had to catch our flight home Monday afternoon...

Headed home to our baby girls
