HG's Birthday Bash: Opryland Sound Waves

For the last few years, HG has had a big group birthday party with some school friends, but this year, they all seemed to kind of want to do their own thing. She thought about it for a long time, but I was able to talk her into doing a fun getaway trip instead of a party. With the end of the school year and the Memorial Day weekend, her actual birthday is kind of hard to get a group together. So we had a lot of special little treats and a family birthday party on her actual day, and then we took a little road trip with her BFF and her mom to Opryland in Nashville in June. We did it up, getting the girls their own room with a view on Friday night (complete with matching pjs and face masks), having breakfast in bed, and then hitting the water park ALL DAY on Saturday. The girls played and ran and swam and slid until nearly 7 p.m. Helen Grace was literally laying on the bathroom floor from exhaustion as we changed clothes and got ready to hit the road. We had the best time celebrating our TEN YEAR OLD birthday girl!!

We walked through the water park before dinner to check it out and make a game plan for Saturday.

Before bedtime, HG and I took a little late night walk through the Delta Atrium where they had a Smurf theme going on with these beautiful lighted flowers.

Hitting the water!

Meanwhile, back at home...

Living it up by the tide pool

The definition of tired

The birthday girl got very car sick as the sun set and darkness set in, so she got to ride up front with me. Very awesome yet strange experience!
