ECC Field Day

Cressey got to experience her first Field Day on May 13th, a beautiful, breezy, sunny day. Since it fell on a Monday, a day she's not normally at school, I took her up there mid-morning, and when we ran into one of her teachers in the hallway, she ran off with her to join her class. I followed them over to the football field at a distance, and she was happily walking with her buddies. As the parents came onto the field to join them, I saw a teacher chasing her as she streaked across the field, back toward where I had last been with her. When I finally caught up with her, I think she panicked when she saw some parents and thought I was gone. Whew. She calmed down easily, and it was so fun to watch the kids listen to the rules and figure out how the games worked. Cress (and many others) would hear the rules and then jump out to start the game right then, bypassing her friends. The teachers and parent volunteers were saints to manage all of this!

They had a relay run, an egg carry race, and an obstacle course. Cressey's favorite was the obstacle course, even sticking around after it was over to do it more times. She loved picking up the parts of the course and straightening them as she went- ha!

We finished with pizza and popsicles before we headed home for the rest of the day. As we left and passed the lower school playground, we saw Helen Grace and her buddies playing on the playground! So fun to run into her in the middle of the day!
