Her appetite has vastly shrunk from  her early days. Only eats mac and cheese, chicken nuggets (“chickie”), strawberries (only the tips or “triangles,” thanks, GD), peanut butter, bananas, sometimes pizza, cookies, and ice cream (although her teachers say she has a healthy appetite at school and tries new things). Only drinks water and milk.

Has to be within reach of mama at all times. She’ll flip her lid if I run to the bedroom for a load of clothes without letting her know. Still is a mama’s girl but has a good dose of need for daddy too.

While she used to be simple to put to bed, she’s now harder to get to sleep, especially at naptime (although teachers say she’s easily able to calm herself and go to sleep at school). Wants to read a few books and then have her back scratched. Still sleeps on tummy with blanket. Has lots of “friends” in her bed which can loosely rotate. Usually Anna from Disneyland, Elsa from NYC Broadway, and HG’s old Anna and Cinderella. Only within the month of November have I been able to get her to lay down in the bed with me (at home, not at a hotel) and actually sleep for a decent amount of time. There’s hope! She’ll go to bed around 7:30 p.m. and wakes up around 6:30 a.m. At home, she’ll nap 2-3 hours.

Potty training efforts have taken a big uptick. Right around her official 2.5 year old mark, she started trying to sit on the potty for her teachers at SAA, so I started asking more at home. For several weeks, she would sit there happily but never go. Finally, this week of Thanksgiving break, she’s used the potty every morning when she wakes up and several times during the day. More often using her diaper than not, but still making huge progress. Loves being rewarded with wearing a pull up and getting M&Ms.

Loves to watch movies in the car. Will rarely fall asleep in car if movie is on.

All about spiders. Pretends to see them everywhere.

Singing recognizable songs. Constantly babbling/ talking and asking ‘why?’ endlessly.

Still not crazy about getting messy/ hands dirty. Very neat and wants to be clean. For example, she will take her shoes off and take them in the laundry room, or she will go throw a wrapper away when she’s done with it. A funny that is somewhat on that topic…I told Cressey, “Here, take a Kleenex.” She exclaimed, “But I not clean!”

Can recognize her name in writing. Knows it starts with a C. Knows her whole name and that her mama is Sha Toohig. Sometimes she’ll come out with Heh Gwace Toohig, sometimes it’s Sissy Toohig.

Loves to burp and pick her nose. (UGH) When we were driving one day, Cress was picking her nose, and HG finally said, “Stop that! People will judge you for doing that when you are older!” John and I just lost it!

Loves to dress in princess dresses and tiaras. I’ve noticed her wanting to finish getting certain things on all by herself (pull on her sock, pull up her pants, put on her jacket)- “I do it.”

Strong opinions at the most random times. When she wants it, there’s no not getting it without a throw down. Will sometimes go to time out to calm herself (and when she comes out, she’ll proudly say, “I calm down!!”), but lately, she more often will continue to full on meltdown.

Likes to “read” a story to you with lots of “one a time”’s thrown in for good measure.

Will sometimes ask me to “hold me like a baby,” which is a little hard to do with as tall as she is but I gladly oblige!

I have heard her sternly tell Momo recently, “Look at my face!” She often hears her mama tell her to do that too!

When you ask her what she’s doing, she more than likely will respond, “Nuffin’.”

Loves to accessorize with pig tails, ponytails, or headbands- if it’s her idea, of course.

Takes a lot of pride in going to SAA with her sister. When we were at the pumpkin patch (10.1.18), HG was in her uniform but Cressey was not. An older gentleman asks HG if she were a St. Agnes girl, and Cressey excitedly pipes up, “I San Agnes girl too!” Also, on a video that her teacher shared, her class was walking through the lower school building which Cressey recognized as where her sissy went to school. You could hear her say, “Sissy coming!”

Still stinks to be in the car very long. Took her to Oxford for lunch for the first time and then to the Egg Bowl, and both times, she was dying to get out by the time we were halfway there. Once she got over the shell shock of the game though, she loved the party and said she wanted “to go Hotty Toddy” if you took her inside for a minute to warm up. She loved to see the players and say “Go team!”

Is a nut for a playground and can usually always be bribed with that…except for the day of her school pics when this is all I got…

LOVES the kitties, and they are really really good with her too, letting her hug all over them. Maybe it has something to do with what I found her in the pantry doing…

She drags a stepstool from room to room around the house to help her access what she needs to reach.

Every night at bedtime, we talk about things that she could dream about, and for over a month straight, she wants to dream about Elsa, Anna, and Hans. Frozen obsessed. As of Halloween, she’s also obsessed with the Broadway show Wicked, thanks to a tv special.
