Over the last few weeks, we’ve heard snippets of new holiday songs coming from Helen Grace, and we’ve been eagerly awaiting Maples’ Christmas program. I met Grandma, Peggy, and HG in the parking lot right after work, and we quickly hustled Helen Grace through the frigidly cold air and into her classroom to get ready before the big show. She was a bit quiet, and Grandma thought she was a little nervous about singing in front of everyone, although she walked right in her classroom as cool as a cucumber.
We all found our seats in the sanctuary, and soon enough, the children started filing in down the center aisle. After I had a minor heart attack, I realized that the 4 yr old classes came in first and sang a song or two before being joined by the 3 yr old classes. FINALLY, HG made her appearance, and I have to admit I might have been one of those parents that was waving wildly trying to let her see where we were. She made it to her spot in the front row, and she finally saw us. That big ole grin and cute little wave were priceless.
They sang “Twinkle Twinkle Christmas Star,” “Go Tell It on the Mountain,” “Frosty the Snowman,” and “We Wish You a Merry Christmas.” She did so well and minded the teacher’s every word, with just a wave or two to us in the crowd. Of course, one of her favorite things was getting to dance on the stage afterward. So proud of our little girl!
And heeeeerrrrreeee’s Helen Grace! She sees us! Her friend, Riley, in the second child from the left in the front row (red and white chevron dress).Making the tree in “Twinkle Twinkle Christmas Star” Clapping in “Go Tell It on the Mountain” Getting her arm ready to ‘dig’ for “We WISH You a Merry Christmas” She’s been practicing this dig for weeks.
