Helen Grace ice skated at the zoo last year, but since her feet stayed on the ice no longer than one minute that time, I’m counting Hastings’ 7th birthday party as her first *real* debut. She was SO excited to get on the ice, and she pranced right out there, holding Hayes’ and Daddy’s hands. Once she got on the ice though, she got a little nervous and decided to come back. She stayed on the side of the rink, watching all the action. After some prodding and Hayes securing a walker of sorts for her, she decided she’d try again. After a few nervous yards, she told her daddy that she might like it and wanted to go some more. From then on, we couldn’t get the girl off the ice other than to eat some cake and ice cream (she literally jumped and ran in her skates to get there), and then she darted right back to the rink! I was beside myself, watching my girl conquer something and LOVE IT. Her poor daddy’s back might never be the same though!
First few steps on the ice… …and then she wanted to watch from the side.My crazy cousin, Hanley Ok, she’s really liking it now. YUMMMM
“I’m doing it, Granddaddy; I’m doing it!”
Next up that afternoon was Courtlyn’s 6th birthday at Kids Only Gym, a gymnastics party with a Hello Kitty flair. I don’t think we could have put together any more of HG’s favorite things in one day. She had a blast jumping, running, and tumbling with Courtlyn!
