HG's 14th Birthday

  • She seems to have leveled out at 5'4" (although just recently she's had some knee growing pains maybe)
  • She started a half lease on Hunter in the last few months and is ON FIRE about progressing in her jumping. It's been fun to watch her rise to the challenge! She's now jumping 2'4" and started oxers (as of June).
  • She has made JV cheer and is loving it. She is a base and has grown from the challenge of switching stunt groups from practice to practice. Lots to learn!
  • She says math or history are her favorite subjects, specifically because of her teachers. With those teachers, she's enjoyed some good natured sparring/ friendships. Junior high has been a new stage of letting her be in more control of her schooling, and we've been rewarded with these friendships with her teachers.
  • Loves her kitties; Blue continues to be aloof, so she and Sunny have a special relationship too (maybe because their hair matches)
  • Likes to be outside on her bike or scooter
  • Always up for a new adventure. I can't even think of something fun she's said no to- from walking around the top of a building in rain and super wind, rolling down a hill inside a Zorb ball, trying a water slide, going to camp states away with just one friend, etc.
  • Quite the world traveler; in an airport, I serve as the family sweeper at the back of the crowd, while she's at the front figuring out where to go. She just flew by herself for the first time to camp (June 24th).
  • After 14 years, she can now tolerate a fizzy drink and loves Celsius.
  • Loves Oxford and has really enjoyed having a bike there. She'll set out to learn a new part of town or campus, and she takes pride in knowing her way around or the names of buildings.
  • Lives for music, always listening to something (mostly country), knows all the words (makes fun of me when I don't), and usually knows a dance that goes with it.

In order to let the big girls have some peace, I got Cressey her very own tent in our room.

I surprised her with baby goats. Landry said, "Ummm, HG, there are people out in your yard..."
