Helen Grace has been such a big sport with her new big sister role, but I’ve quickly learned that she is happiest when she’s on her regular schedule and has plenty of snuggle time with mama. When her quality time is usurped, her inner teenager comes out, especially when it’s usurped by a screaming baby. Thankfully, we’ve only seen two or three episodes, and we are doing better at sensing when her love cup is getting low so that we can refill it before it hits bottom.
On Friday, April 29th, she had her normal Friday night in mama’s bed, while John kept Cressey for the night. It was beyond wonderful for both HG and me, as she slept peacefully in our bed and I got to turn the lamp off since I didn’t have to watch a baby all night. Pure darkness = HAPPINESS! By Saturday night though, we could tell she needed some fun one-on-one time with us, so on Sunday, we decided to let her dictate the day and left Cressey with Spiffer and Granddaddy. HG wanted to go to the zoo to see the new hippo exhibit, get her face painted, and enjoy some Dippin Dots. We were more than happy to oblige, especially since Edie and Gene were in town too. The weather was in the 70s but was so pleasant, especially in the shade, with a nice breeze. We had a great day getting some fresh air, visiting with Edie and Gene, and focusing on our first baby girl!
