On Sunday, May 8th, Cressey turned one month old. We had a little photo shoot after our Mother’s Day brunch.
John accurately described the first month as the ‘month of the grunt.’ At one month old, Cressey is smoothed by her paci, although she isn’t addicted to it. Her hairline has started receding a bit (still thick and long in the back), but you can still see the signs of her cowlick up front. She’s never seen a bottle she won’t put down. She’s eating 4 ounces every 2-3 hours. At night, she’ll usually eat and then go right back to sleep. During the day, she’s having more awake time, and we are introducing her to a playmat and tummy time with which she’s had fun. If she cries, she’s hungry, wet, or cold (and very rarely, sleepy). She loves to be wrapped up warmly too, preferring her arms to be free of a swaddle though. She’s wearing size one diapers and is busting out of 0-3 month onesies. Size 3M fits much better. She is pretty happy in a car and falls asleep if she’s not hungry. She’ll go to anyone (thank you, Jesus!) and is ok to lay awake in the MamaRoo or bassinet for a little bit, but she likes to be near people/activity. Don’t dare walk off and leave her alone! If she decides she is hungry though, she will immediately squall, so be prepared with a bottle!
As she tired of our photo shoot, big sis stepped in to soothe her (we call her the baby whisperer for a reason), and she soon had her asleep!
