Sunday was Mother’s Day, and what a good day filled with mothers we had! We started off the morning with a walk along the beach and happened upon a father and daughter who were practically sea life experts. They would catch all sorts of things and bring them over to show us- crabs, a humongous sand flea, a key fish, live sand dollars, etc. There was a great little section of the beach that was very shallow for a good distance out into the ocean, so Helen Grace could run and play easily in ankle deep water without big waves getting her too wet. We played and played until mid morning and then headed to brunch at Cobalt on the bay to celebrate Mother’s Day. After a great meal and only a somewhat minor toddler meltdown, we headed back to the beach for some more play. To my delight, HG’s grandmothers scooped her up and took her to the lazy river and playground and let me have over an hour’s worth of reading time ALONE on the beach. What a treat! We ended the afternoon with some of those typical family beach pictures that I’ve always dreamed of taking (see the next post) and after debating where to eat for dinner for what seemed like forever, we threw in the towel, ordered pizza for delivery from Lillian’s, and put on our pjs. Wine and pizza on the balcony, please! We had a wonderful night with lots of fun and laughter.
Helen Grace walking with her grandmamas Nearby the hole that John and HG started (which people continued to dig and enlarge) was a HUGE pit that HG loved playing in as well.
Chasing the waves and running like a birdie
Off to brunchWhat we’d like to think Mother’s Day looks like… And what the reality of motherhood is like…that is partly chewed spaghetti in my hand that I caught as she spit it out…nice… A timeless picture Love that little booty
