Years ago, Cressey came along on our annual lake house trip, but it was a disaster. She didn’t do well in the car, didn’t sleep well, didn’t handle Daylight Savings Time well, etc. I decided to give it another try this year, and thanks to new DVD players, both girls gave me a very quiet two hours of the three-hour trip and Cressey even took a cat nap. She wasn’t happy that I woke her up at Wal-Mart, but by the end of it, she was calm/ happy again. And her routine of “cheese,” milk, and her iPad helped too. She chose to sleep on the blow up toddler bed and even went to sleep awake and by herself like at home. She was a little under the weather, so she didn’t sleep terribly well but was easily quietened and never got out of bed.
On Saturday, we enjoyed a lazy fall day complete with tossing rocks into the lake and finding shells, going into town for lunch and shopping, and playing on the playground and climbing the waterfall (just the big girls). Since Cress didn’t take a nap that day, she was asleep in my lap by 6:15. I pulled her toward me, told her to just close her eyes and relax, and she didn’t open her eyes again until 8 a.m.!
I would consider the weekend a success with Cressey, and of course, the mama quality time was immeasurably wonderful and therapeutic! I don’t have many pics of HG because she and her buddies were playing too hard to stop for my requests.
