Cress has been anticipating her GOLDEN BIRTHDAY for the last year! And for the universe to give her a solar eclipse on that same day?! Almost too much fun to bear!
Cressey asked to do her family birthday gathering on the night of Sunday the 7th after her sister's horse show. She requested strawberry cake, of course.

And then realizing that we sponsored a snake in her name at the Prehistoric Zoo in upstate New York that we visit when HG is at Houghton. <3
She's big on traditions. She remembered this sign and asked me the day before if her sign would be in the yard. Glad I had ordered it!
Monday April 8th was a solar eclipse! In Memphis, we had 97-98% totality. HG was ready!

We celebrated with her classmates with Kate at the MidSouth Ice House on Saturday, April 13th.
I bought these cute star and heart lights for table decor, but I didn't expect the girls to really notice/ want to use them. They loved them and demanded the lights stay out the whole time.

- Schoolwork comes easily to her. She seems to be competitive with herself in this area, wanting to improve her quarterly test scores or upset when she doesn't make a 100.
- She's snarky and has a great sense of humor, although she gets embarrassed if people laugh too hard. Working on getting comfortable with that comedic feedback.
- Loves to read, especially anything with dragons and cats. But she'd rather play on her iPad all day every day if given the choice.
- A good read on others' emotions, probably because she has a large rainbow of her own emotions.
- She cries from happiness at least every other day.
- Very sensitive, wants to please.
- Very lovey and cuddly still.
- Has just gotten glasses. To help with some near vision issues and focusing at a far distance.
- She's four inches taller at this age than HG was.
- She loves archery and horseback, wants to take a break from ballet, begged not to do softball, is talented at music but doesn't want to take lessons, wants to try gymnastics, will swim anytime it's available. She likes to ride her scooter and 'play pickleball.'
- She's cantered a few times but wants it to be short. Has done several barn shows.
- She could eat blueberries and strawberries 24/7. She has usually been set on bagel bites and mini corn dogs, but she's recently taken up scrambled eggs and toast with strawberry jelly from the Palace. Only apple juice or water to drink, or Capri Sun if available. Not a big meat eater.
- She'd love to live in tshirts and shorts, and it takes a lot to get her into a dress.
- She was chosen by her class to be part of the May court for the Mary crowning mass- only two second graders (boy and girl) and two eighth graders (boy and girl). She was SO touched to be "nominated"- she must have told me that word 50 times!
- She has gotten glasses this month- a little for focus and a little for near vision.
- She has slept all night in her bed maybe five times in the last year. Even if she starts the night in her own bed, she ends up in the pallet in our bedroom floor in the middle of the night.
- She remembers everything she's ever heard- even things you didn't know she heard.
- She's finally relented to learn to ride a balance bike but refuses to put the pedals back on it.
- She could live in a pool full-time. Wants to swim every single day.
- What do you want to be when you grow up? "That's hard, I don't know. Wait, I know. I kinda want to be a mommy."
