HG turns 12

On May 25, 2021, Helen Grace turned 12 years old.

  • Has grown 4 inches this year (62.75 inches- 5'2", 86th percentile), has terrible growing pains, wearing a size 7 shoe (just a half size off of me)
  • Willing to try anything new (a new dance class, BridgeBuilders, etc.)
  • Still doesn't have a phone or social media and is NOT happy about it (although she does use my SnapChat app on my phone while sitting next to me in the car). She does text friends on her iPad.
  • Is a fan favorite of all of Cressey's friends and their moms, and she will always hop in to entertain or help or even keep them straight
  • Completed a babysitting and CPR camp this summer and is chomping at the bit to take this professional
  • Wants to be a labor and delivery nurse like Brandy- loves the idea of bringing a baby into the world
  • Never met an animal she doesn't fall in love with. Still begs for a dog.
  • Her teachers and coaches praise her stick-with-it, positive attitude and say she's always willing to try again, etc. but she couldn't hate homework any more. It's a chore.
  • This past year, she danced and rode horses in the fall, and she danced, rode horses, and played softball in the fall. She would have played soccer and done a play if those had been available (thanks, Covid).
  • Super brave and loves to ride rides (although not upside down)
  • Will still pretend play with Cressey from time to time
  • Loves to travel and has a long list of places she wants to go
  • If she has some extra cash, she will spend an hour in the cosmetic aisle of Target finding new make up to try. One of her favorite presents this year was a big light up mirror for her desk to use to play with her makeup. Also she was pumped to get some LED lights to hang in her room.
  • Big fan of the water- beach, pool, lake, etc.
  • Stanch Ole Miss (and DG) fan and makes her dad proud that she bad mouths State at any opportunity
  • Hard to find her wearing anything but oversized tshirts and shorts
  • Hard to find her doing anything at home other than watching YouTube and doing TikTok dances

Waiting to go downstairs for her birthday morning

She had dance class at 7:30 on the night of her birthday. I told her it was fine with me to skip class, but she was adamant she wanted to make it. We just had our family dinner early so that she could scoot out.

A little wary of the sparkler candles

A little happy birthday dance from sis
