Toohig Tidbits: June

Cressey and I were sitting in the hammock. HG came back from a bike ride. Her bike mirror was spinning as she rode, and she was lamenting about it. I offered a suggestion or two to fix it, all of which she shrugged off. Cressey pipes up, "Well, maybe it's just part of life."

Cressey was muttering to herself and said "butt." And then again to herself, she said, "That's not a nice word to say to your mama."

Cressey and I had one of those mornings where she was just constantly talking and constantly asking things of me. I was trying to wash dishes, do laundry, etc. She came over to me looking pretty pitiful, and I sat down on the floor with her. She laid her head in my lap and said, "I'm so tired." I asked her why, and she said, "I'm tired of asking you to play with me!" Obviously, we went straight to the playroom!

HG got her ears pierced back in October, but her right ear gave her problems so we let it grow up with the plan to try again later. She mentioned the other day (June 14th) that she wanted to start school with TWO earrings, and as I did the mental math, I realized she really needed to get it pierced like THEN. She was nervous at first but gathered her courage, and off we went! John had Cressey at the pool that day, so it was a nice and calm day for the two of us to go get it done. She was a champ!

We had a family dinner so that HG could show off her new earring, and she rode up with John while Cress rode home with me.

Like a moth to a flame is Cressey to warm clothes out of the dryer

I haven't seen HG fall asleep on the couch in YEARS, but she was suffering from some allergies and had taken some new meds from the doc. I came down from putting Cress to sleep and found her like this! John actually managed to CARRY her to bed.

Cloroxing the front doors...what else??

More s'mores...we've really enjoyed our fire pit during this time of social distancing. It's a fun way to visit with some space.

Father's Day fun

Family dinner at our house later that night to celebrate the fabulous, selfless daddies we have been given!

CRESSEY WENT BACK TO SCHOOL FOR CAMP!!!! I hadn't really planned on sending her to full day camp (it ran from 8:00-3:45), and the shorter specialty camps have been cancelled. But one of her friend's moms reached out saying how great it was, so I signed her up for the 'camping' themed week. They take their temperature in the car each morning, ask all the clearance questions, limit the classes to a very small number, clean the playground between each group's turn, eat in the classroom, etc. And her teachers were Ms. Sarah and Ms. Libby, her teacher's this past year! She couldn't WAIT to go, had such a big time, and even NAPPED!

HG got a "healthy cut"

HAPPY happy after camp!

She got herself all dressed for school AND packed her own lunch

To conclude their 'camping' themed week, the kids followed a map of campus and took a hike to find their picnic lunch location. One of the sweet mamas provided the bandannas, and it was hilarious to see that each one wore theirs differently.
