CMT: FOUR

At four years old, Cressey weighs 53 lbs (was 57 lbs at check up in June, 99th percentile) and around is 44 inches tall (96th percentile). She's wearing mostly size 6 clothes and size 12 shoes. Here is an interview with the brand new four year old...

What do you want to be when you grow up?  fruit bat (lord help us)
Favorite color?  purple
Favorite food?  chicken nuggets and grapes (she should have said mac and cheese here)
Favorite princess?  Ariel
Favorite toy?  Bunny Monkey (name came from a toy on Puppy Dog Pals show)
Favorite city?  San Diego
Favorite animal?  lion and tiger
Favorite movie?  Tinker Bell's Great Fairy Rescue
Favorite tv show?  Puppy Dog Pals
  • Super neat and tidy. When she takes off her clothes, she puts them in the washing machine (and sometimes even turns it on), and she sets her shoes in the shoe rack. When she's done eating, she puts her fork in the sink and throws away the trash. Loves to brush her teeth (super worried about 'sugar bugs') and wash her hands.
  • Can be painfully shy at times. Like, will run and hide under something or will cling to me with her head in my shoulder.
  • Still a big mama's girl.
  • Loves to use a code to unlock her iPad and will play on it for hours.
  • Has conquered her bike with training wheels although she tires quickly.
  • Gave up Pull-ups for bedtime in Cali and has only had two middle-of-the-night accidents
  • No naps unless she's at school (pretty much since school started in the fall). She's REALLY sleepy mid afternoon, but it's too big of a fight to get her to sleep and she'll be up until 11 if we let her nap.
  • Only drinks water, milk, apple juice, and Capri Sun.
  • Loves Velveeta mac and cheese, blueberries, dried strawberries, and popsicles more than she loves life itself. She'll eat any fruit but pineapple, PB&J, pizza, hot dogs, etc.
  • Insists on socks with her shoes or sandals, wants the socks pulled up high, and her shoes have to be strapped TIGHTLY.
  • Moved to high back booster seat and is still trying to figure out how to put her seat belt on alone.
  • Must-have bedtime companions are blankie, Bunny Monkey, and Minnie.
  • Loves Tinker Bell, Owlette from PJ Masks, unicorns, and butterflies. Has become obsessed with snails, worms, 'cuties' (ants) and all bugs since quarantine.
  • Still talking about getting a purple kitten when she turns 5.
  • No interest whatsoever in schoolwork since the quarantine began. A bribe for a snack will get me a few minutes of letter practice.
  • Very sensitive. If you tell her no in any way, she crumples and asks, "Do you still love me??" Heaven forbid raise your voice. Whew. She also is very kind-hearted toward animals like HG. Wants to keep every worm, etc.
  • Obsessed lately with good germs vs. bad germs in your body and healthy food. She'll ask you if a food is healthy or how much sugar it has in before she eats it. Then starts the worry about sugar bugs and wanting to brush her teeth.
  • Names every toy Cressey Margaret Toohig.
  • Has ALL THE WORDS ALL THE TIME. Never stops talking if she's awake.
  • Loves to watch Bluey, Puppy Dog Pals, and PJ Masks.
  • Loves to take a bath and is hard to talk into getting out of it.
  • Great sleeper. Very rarely wakes up in the middle of the night. We've sadly gotten into the bad habit of sitting in bed with her until she goes to sleep, although it is nice to have the cuddle time. As a baby, we could just lay her down and walk away. She asked for HG to put her to bed three nights in a row recently, but now she's back to mama. She will come downstairs when her 'green light' turns on in her room and will sometimes come on by herself without hollering at me. She can now do stairs like a grown up, one foot after another.
  • Insists on a piggyback from daddy up to bed. They have a song to go along with it, and HG or I have to be the 'monster' to chase her.
  • Just recently, she's started singing a jingle about how she loves mommy, daddy, sissy, grandma, spiffer, granddaddy, etc. She and HG are always (mostly) sweet to each other, but it's fun to hear Cress tell HG, "I love you, sissy!
  • In the wake of this coronavirus business, she's been asking every morning, "Can we hug people today?" :(
HG stayed up with me until 10 the night before Cressey's birthday, and we worked our fingers to the bone to get the balloons ready for her special day.

When she woke up, she was so confused why there were balloons and streamers in her room. She was still too sleepy to remember it was her birthday- so funny!

Oh YEAHHHH!

She was really looking forward to getting her face painted at her birthday party at the zoo, so thanks to Norah, we found some face tattoos that were a good substitute! Actually, after her birthday arrived, she never mentioned the zoo party again. She was pleased with all the festivities!

Donuts delivered for breakfast!

And Grandma came by on her way to work!

And Brandy came by after she got off her night shift, complete with a serenade and cereal as confetti...

She's been asking for a sleeping bag and was so pleased. She kept getting back in it all day.

We got a sweet video AND a Facetime call from Darby, May May, and Kellum!

A shout out from Ms. Sarah on the class app who also showed up in the drive by parade with her puppy- so sweet!

So so many friends drove by to wish our baby girl happy birthday- I had happy tears the whole morning. Well, except for the time I had to run in and drag a shy Cressey out from under the dining room table- but it was SO GREAT to see all those smiling faces!

Ms. Libby!

The cutest call from the Ducks!

Hunting for snails

Our very sweet neighbors brought by a swirl art toy, and the girls loved it!

Granddaddy and Spiffer came by for a driveway visit, complete with Cressey's bday gifts and Easter gifts for both girls.

HG really wanted to bake Cressey a cake, so Cress chose a vanilla cake and vanilla icing. Cress can be hit or miss with cake, but she LOVED it!

Out for a walk with her new unicorn castle, feeling fancy

Some of our neighbors hid Easter eggs in their front yard and asked the girls to come hunt them. They were more than happy to oblige.

Bedtime piggyback!

And at bedtime, THE EASTER BUNNY called Cressey to say Happy Birthday and goodnight!

March 2020: HG had to ride Cressey's back home when a sisterly neighborhood bike road ended early

"I gonna be Tinker Bell"

She's really mastered her big girl bike

She's my workout companion these days and wants so badly to do what mama does...

A blast from the past, Dec 2019: Peeping from Spiffer's bed
