HG and I took Cressey to her first Italian Fest on what we thought was an overcast but dry June day. We did wear our boots/ old tennis shoes because it had recently rained, and I knew the ground would likely be soggy. We walked around the team tents, stopped to pick up some pizza slices, and headed to the MacDermants’ tent to eat and visit. Within minutes, the rain started. Soon, the bottom fell out of the sky, the wind picked up, and a huge storm settled in. It rained cats and dogs with just one minor slow period. When it let up a little, the kids headed out of the tent to play on the playground (or to drink the rain if you were Cressey). After at least an hour and a half, I decided that we were just going to have to make a run for it. Thankfully, about halfway to our car, the rain subsided. The deluge had done its damage though, and we had to walk through areas of at least a foot of standing water to get to our car. The girls thought it was amazing, and while Mama didn’t have quite the same feeling about our trek to the car, it did make for a very memorable first Italian Fest for Cressey!
First bite of funnel cake
Cressey was so wet that I would take her shirt off from time to time, wring it out, and hang it up to dry for a bit.
