We started Halloween with ‘church school’ (Hope moms’ group), and after 30 minutes, I finally convinced her to wear her witch shirt instead of a twirly dress. What can I say, she’s a girly girl. Afterward, we came home for a nap and then to start prepping for our crazy neighborhood trick or treating tradition.
For some reason, maybe it was the artic weather (in the high 40’s, low 50’s), but she was really excited about handing out candy this year rather than trick or treating. She wanted to help put together our candy bowl and set up the table at the end of the driveway. When our neighbor, Mariella, showed up in her costume, she decided it was time to put on her outfit of choice- Tinker Bell! I somehow talked her into wearing her wings, wand, and sparkly shoes for a few pictures, and the minute we said we were done, she started stripping down and asking for her tennis shoes so she could go run wild with the neighborhood girls!
When night finally fell and the hayride was ready to go, she decided to hop on the band wagon and go for a ride. She made it to the end of our street and said, “I’m cold. I’m ready to go home.” That was all it took for me to head back to our warm house. She went straight to our room and got under the covers. She then requested each grandparent, one by one, to come entertain her.
Finally, she defrosted and rebounded- and headed right out to the curb to get back on her candy-handing-out duty! She was so cute digging her little hands into the bowl and shoveling two fists’ full of candy into each trick or treater’s bag. Another great Halloween in the books!
This is the look I get when she refuses to wear a bow. Gotta hold the hair out of her eyes somehow!
