Toohig Tidbits: Early July

Better late than never. Here are some pics from the early half of July.

The Colettas came to pick up HG one Saturday while we were unpacking and took HG to swim at the Caseys’. She had a big time and enjoyed being away from the boxes and her baby sister.

Blue has found his spot at the top of the new stairs. He waits here while I put the girls to bed.

The first few weeks in the new house, I’d wake up to see HG in the monitor, checking on Cressey.

While we were in Bozeman, HG picked out these pajamas for Cressey. They were 9 mos, but thankfully, I went ahead and tried them on her. She got to wear them this one time!

She hasn’t fallen asleep in the car in years, but a hard, fun day in the pool at the Browns’ will do it!

I walked out of Cressey’s room to find this horrific sight- Blue sitting on the bannister! On the other side is a two-story drop!

Maren came home for a visit from Brussels, and we got to see her!

First Day of Second Grade

For the first time, HG had absolutely no back-to-school nerves. She was excited about getting back to her friends. She had a half day on Wednesday, August 10th, and we left extra early so that we’d have time to walk in with her. Surprisingly, we all got out the door on time! (I got Cressey up about thirty minutes before we left so that I could feed her but left her in her pjs.)

Helen Grace was excited about taking our annual door pic in front of our new door (but the sun was BRIGHT), and again, HG wanted to push Cressey until she saw Evie and they went running to their classroom. They apparently all chose pink for their first day jumpers, so we were met by a pink wave of little girls. We are excited about second grade with Mrs. Barker!

First day of second grade: “Here’s a list of what I am going to do at school today: chase boys, chase boys, eat lunch, chase boys, chase boys.”

HG won a “Game Face” Award, chosen by their gym coach, and her picture will hang in the hallway on display for the year.

Getting Ready for School

The last week or two of summer, we were busy squeezing in both the necessary things, as well as the just-for-fun things, before we got back to the school grind.

We stopped by Vaco, and HG decorated my desk.

We got our eyes checked. HG LOVES this. Her eyes are the same as last year- 20/25 in each eye but 20/20 together and still a little farsighted.

HG got her ‘healthy cut.’ (Danielle actually took off about two inches, and it looked GREAT.) This was Jeanna and Danielle’s first time to meet Cressey. (Jeanna gave both me and HG our first hair cuts.)

She asked for curls, and Danielle delivered!

And of course, we had to get our nails done before the no-polish rule at school hit!

Meet the Teacher/ registration day at school. She proudly pushed Cressey around until we ran into some of her friends, and off she went!
