Upstate New York in the Summertime/ FLOORS

Thanks to an ice maker leak, we had to move completely out of our downstairs for 2.5 weeks and have our wood floors refinished. We chose to do it while HG was gone to equestrian camp at Houghton, and then we spent the rest of the time in Oxford. And we moved back in the day before school started- fun! Follow along on our adventures!

How I was handling move out day

We had to spend two nights at home before the girls and I left for NY

After a few days with no couches or tables, we were ready to get out of town! John stayed behind to work and live upstairs, and he and Jeanne joined us later in the week.

Niagara Falls

About time to hand her off at the dorm, while Cress and I settled into the Houghton Inn

We met up with John's aunt and cousins for some play time and lunch

We also went into Rochester and found some fun

We spent two afternoons here at the trampoline park in Rochester

We saw HG while at dinner in the campus center on Monday night, and Cressey was so excited that she got a hug!

Cress and I went to Seabreeze Amusement Park in Rochester, a perfectly sized park with dry and wet rides. I wrongly assumed she wouldn't want to do the water stuff, but no worries. $80 later in the gift store, we had everything we needed for her to hop in! And the noseless goggles we got here would prove to be handy later in our trip.

Seabreeze was right on the shore of Lake Ontario! Redneck sightseeing out of the minivan, in her brand new swim suit

And this was fun- a rock popped up off the highway and got stuck in my bumper

Another sighting of HG!

Checking out the gym while we waited for the school pool to open

Letchworth State Park- HG has been as a baby, but this was Cressey's first time

Purple Iris front porch

The Reptile Zoo in Perry, NY. The sweet lady at the hotel front desk told us about this place, and Cress LOVED it. I've never seen anything like this. Three store fronts full of reptiles, and Cress held almost all of them.

Charcoal Corral in Perry was a step back in time

Splash park in Perry too

She was dying to swim, and the Houghton pool wasn't open that day. So thanks to the front desk lady again, we found the biggest public pool I have ever seen- at Letchworth! And they didn't allow the masks that cover your nose, so those Seabreeze googles saved the day.

I kept seeing these signs for the Amish in the area, but Cressey and I never found one.

John and Grandma have arrived!!! Jeanne hadn't been back since John graduated, so we went on a trip down memory lane. This was John's freshmen dorm room!!!!

John and Cress in the same spot on Luckey's steps as he was with baby HG in 2010

Jeanne and John finding their chapel seats

John's soccer field (for his last year or two)

TIME TO GET OUR GIRL! And see her lesson

Look at this indoor, air conditioned ring!!

HG and John in 2010 and 2022

Never seen a snow plow street sign before!

BOTH M GIRLS!

HG made this video of her pics from the week, and I shed a tear

We drove to Pennsylvania to gather with Jeanne's sisters and their families and see the Moses Sight and Sound play. But first, dinner with cousins! Griffin

And Abby!

Dessert at Geoff and Torie's house

The Waldron Sisters (whose mother was Helen Grace Cressey)

Cousins

Girl finds a pool anywhere she goes (hotel in Reading)

Meanwhile, back at the house...kitties are in Cressey's room while staining starts....

Finally show an Amish family in Lancaster! I was so excited!

Dinner at Aunt Mary's house after the show

The sisters and Uncle Craig

First generation of cousins with spouses

Just cousins

And second generation of cousins

And all of us!

We have arrived in Oxford

Thank goodness I remembered to pull out some AG and LOL dolls

Wal Mart fun

Night swimming

FSO for HG- Freshmen Student Orientation sleepover

We are excited to see Ms. Carley more often now HG is in upper school

BULLSEYE

She survived the night- with very little sleep- and now back to Oxford

More Moore cousins

Parents' Night Out at the Sipp

This makes me so happy- seeing John and HG finishing her summer math packet

Sunny, we are home! (kinda, no furniture)

Here comes the furniture!!!

Kate entertained Cressey while the movers took over

Cressey hasn't slept in her room for a year since we updated her bathroom last summer. I decided not to put the guest room back together after the move so she could get back to her own room. She was NOT HAPPY, but she was tired and eventually gave up. Just in time for school to start tomorrow!
