Toohig Tidbits: October

I asked HG if she thought about me while she was at school. She said, "Sometimes, I think about what you are doing. Probably worrying about something that hasn't happened yet." LOL!

It's been fun to watch Cressey learn about football this fall. We had the Ole Miss- Auburn game on tv at home one Saturday, and I didn't think she was paying attention. But she walked by at one point and quipped, "We need a touchdown."

Cressey:

"I just like it to be symmetrical."

While walking with Granddaddy, "if only we had a grappling hook!"

As we left Oxford, "this is a great town" and "thank you for letting us make new memories here."

On the way to riding, "Thank you for signing me up for horseback riding"

When I couldn't find my purple tennis shoes, she told me I might have to wear my "classic white ones."

"When we land, can I get some H2O?"

"I love you for sending me to this school. My favorite part of school is reading." (Sept 30, 21)

"My talents are practicing, don't give up, and bottle flipping."

William is always a fan favorite, and my girls (especially Cressey) love having him stay here with us. He's always greeted with a hug in the morning, whether he's awake and ready for it or not.

And she begged him to ride to school drop off with us.

Look at that pretty nativity

Big and little sisters got to sit together for mass. Cress LOVES her big sis.

Julia came home from school for a playdate with us.

Cressey was captured in her Meet in the Middle weekly meeting with her assistant teacher.

One of those narration exercises where you draw what your teacher describes...

Another 'fun' thing about William visits is that he likes to mess with HG's room and let her find what he's done. Do you see Henry up on the curtain rod?!

Nutcracker costume try on

Our cousin Myra's wedding...William is a boss as always...TCB!

Clingy kitties

Sunny on HG's pillow

Blue always follows me into Cressey's room in the morning, but sometimes Sunny will meet us at the doorway.

Look at that happy skip

Who knew there was such a thing as leopard slugs??

Fishing for the invisible shark

Hmm...ever wonder how the hierarchy of the kitties is working out?

The Tooth Fairy found her!

First day of fall uniforms

5 years apart

When I get home from dropping off the girls each morning, Sunny comes running to meet me at the back door. I sit here on these steps and give him some loving and, not to be outdone, Mo comes too.

We wait all of September for the first sign of a pumpkin at Second Baptist- our favorite fall tradition!

Along with decorating the porch with 'spooky' Halloween decor...

Looks like we have another 'stupid' cat

Cressey left this message on the fridge

Soccer pics! (About a week before these, HG closed her finger in the door and somehow sliced the heck out of it. She kept it bandaged for a long time, and she wasn't happy that the photographer didn't edit it out of these pics.

Loves trying on my shoes

Hard to get a nice pic of this goofball these days

This pic reminded me of the one of her from 2017...

Sweet big sis helping mama with DG duties late night at the house before initiation reception. I think it was the first time she had been there late when the girls are hanging out in the kitchen in their pjs and slippers, and you could see her soaking it all up like, 'they actually LIVE here!'

Finally time to go home and go to bed to be ready for the next day!

That haul from the couch to the top floor bedroom and bunk is a LONG trip, but a sweet daddy does it without complaining.

While I was at initiation, Daddy was sending me updates from the homefront.

And then HG came with me to the reception

And we got to hug Grace Ann!

Kindergarten parent party

This weirdo often sleeps wrapped around a chair leg like this

The cutest girly Halloween birthday party for Ellie Rene, Ella, Lizzie, and Ava O.

This girl never has enough barrettes...

Helpful kitties

Healthy cuts- now HG can't get one without Cress wanting one too

Each semester, HG has to do a Bridge Builder elective, so I signed her up for a cooking class on Zoom, thinking they'd watch someone in a studio make a recipe. Well, then I got an email with an ingredient list and a recipe for cheeseburger soup! Ha! At first, she wasn't very excited, but once it got going, I think she really enjoyed it. And the soup and croutons were good!

Girl can't seem to walk on this stretch of sidewalk leading up to the square. She gotta run!

I have never seen such a thing, but they set up a basketball court right on the square! The Ole Miss men's team played like an exhibition game.

Mama and Daddy are struggling to get our fingers into this new TikTok trend

But Cress can do it just like that!

It's Eli Day! His #10 is getting retired at halftime!

Cress and I rushed down to the Walk of Champions to see Eli and his family walk by. I totally fan girled out, while Cress wasn't very impressed with all the fanfare.

And then the Lane Train

Mere Mere surprised us!

The Kyles joined us, and Cress hung all over Millie.

The sun was fine when they had sno cones...

...but then it got hot and they were over it.

And little bit got a blister on her foot and shed her shoes completely. Thank goodness for socks!

We watched some of the game with Suzanne and John, and they were thankfully in the shade.

Eli's number, his daddy's number, and Chucky Mullins' number are retired.

There is a fight over Mama's pillow...

So if Momo loses the pillow, he just makes himself comfortable across my torso.

HG's geography project that she did all by herself

And not to be outdone, Cressey found a creative place to do her homework.

Ghouls Just Want to Have Fun fall fest at school for Cress (She had a dress all picked out beforehand, but that morning, she pulled a total switcharoo and refused it. Luckily, I found an old one of sissy's in the closet that she loved)

We love Dr. B, but we REALLY love Clyde B.

My first Make a Wish granted! (in the rain at Levitt Shell didn't dampen our excitement)

HG is now riding twice a week, once on Thurs and again on Sun with Cress. Cress is not happy that she doesn't have a lesson on Thurs too, so we have to find stuff to keep her busy.

Sherbert helps

Again with his head smushed against something. So weird

So happy that Sunny surprised her and just jumped up next to her on the stool during breakfast

HG was asked to speak to a group of her peers about her Bridge Builder experience!

Full lap, full heart

The Friday before Halloween (on Sunday), we finally got our pumpkins carved. HG handled the design for both pumpkins, and we were just thankful they chose small pumpkins off the porch.

HG realizing that Cress had snuck in Mama's bed before her- oh no!!

Going out to dinner with Maddie, all dressed up in 'real clothes'

S'mores for little sis who was sad big sis was out on the town without her

HG and I were getting her settled in for bedtime, and after we closed the curtains, we heard a ping on the window. John was tossing nuts at the window as he winded down the fire. Lol!

A nice visit with Big Red
