Tuesday, January 5th: Meanwhile, back home, SEB was holding down the fort once school started!
I wrote notes for the girls each school morning, and SEB helped me hide them in their pockets, lunchboxes, etc.
Look at that crab! He was making a home between our two beach chairs, so we watched him all morning. He'd crawl out with claws full of sand, toss it out into a pile, and go back down for more.
On the walk down to the beach
View from the gym at the top of the hill (where I never visited). Speaking of up high, Ladera was another resort that was 'above' ours, up in the hills. They didn't have beach access.
John ran up to our villa and waved down to me on the beach. He's under the first white roofline on the left. Can you see him???
Cressey was so proud of her new bracelet she earned at school for being a kind friend.
SEB said she walked around like this with her wrist up so that everyone could see it- lol!
Dinner at Bayside
The stars were amazing!
That little black speck on the floor- the tiniest, loudest tree frogs you'll ever find!
Wednesday, January 6th: This is what heaven looks like to me
While we were sitting on the beach, this happy guy comes by in his decorated boat blasting music- so funny!
Real coconut water
Sunset view from the walkway down to our villa
John checked out the view of the sunset up by the gym
From John's walk back down the hill
Thursday, January 7th: Morning rainbow view from our villa
SEB's hairstyling skills were a huge hit
Reminiscent of another pic of our feet from Rome, one summer when we were dating
I texted HG's teacher to see if she was having a good week, and she sent me this pic right back. She had called HG up to her desk and HG was confused and laughing.
Lunch at Jalousie's Bar on the beach
This fried mac and cheese was DECADENT!
Meanwhile, it was SNOWING at home! (Didn't stick in our neck of the woods)
Sunset from the pier
Last night dinner at the Great Room
Friday, January 8th: Going home day
One last selfie
Some pics from our drive. We learned on our drives that St. Lucia's big export is bananas to Britain. Each banana tree only produces one bunch of bananas (30-40) in its lifetime, and then they cut it down and another tree grows from the stump in 6 months, fruit coming 3-6 months later. Also, they showed us cocoa plants and described how locals preferred to suck on the sweet, sticky lining that holds the bitter cocoa beans.
A school
Goats, horses, dogs, and cows roamed freely everywhere. HG would have loved it!
Like a St. Lucian version of Lombard Street
Girls all watching the snow fall at school
Important pandemic travel note: The airport was tiny, and all flights waited in one main area. But upstairs, there is a small food court, and off to the side, there is a small room with tables that can give you some much needed space.
Here we come, baby girls!
