After all the parishes had celebrated their first communion masses, St. Agnes and St. Dominic had a special mass on May 16th so that all the second graders could take their first communion at school together.
We put the fancy dress back on, much to HG’s disappointment, and at 8 p.m. the night before, I emailed the florist frantically to order a flower crown when I realized all the other girls would have one. (And HG started asking me about it the day before.) Gah, mom! Thank goodness that they checked their email that night and were able to have one ready for us by 9 a.m.!
Each child had a speaking part, was part of the choir, or presented the gifts. We loved seeing all of our kiddos so excited about receiving communion together, and it was nice to get to have a joint special event with the boys too. Within minutes of the mass ending, HG was chasing around boys that were wearing her flower crown. Some things never change. Hilarious!
