We added another great Germantown Festival to the books last weekend! It’s a tradition for Spiffer, Granddaddy, Helen Grace, and me, and true to form, Spiffer and I shopped while GD and HG found some fun! As we walked up, we saw a cool looking trailer on the curb outside the festival, and I thought it was just a shuttle to and from parking. GD and HG hopped on, thinking it’d keep HG entertained, but they soon found out that it took people down the street to a farm with a PETTING ZOO-- JACKPOT!! They were gone for hours. I kept looking at my phone, thinking I’d missed a call from Daddy, but nope, they were just having a ball! Helen Grace petted bunnies, goats, chickens, and even walked a bunny on a leash. She’s still talking about it!
When they finally came back to the festival, we got some Italian ice and headed to the jumpies. Helen Grace is a mad woman on those things, and she was throwing herself down the inflatable slide on her stomach face first over and over. She finally came out of the slide and mentioned that she got a boo boo on her elbow. She had a bit of a burn from the jumpy, but I put some lotion on it and we continued to an inflatable obstacle course. Well, she must have bonked her elbow again in there because she came out of that thing screaming and hollering, “Owwie, owwie, owwie!” The girl couldn’t be consoled, so off we went to the car with her waving her elbow (she thinks that makes every ‘owwie’ feel better) and refusing any and all treatment ideas Spiffer or I had for her. DRAMA!
It was such a dramatic experience that I was worried she wasn’t going to go back to a jumpy or a festival (she claimed that on the looooong walk back to the car), but she has finally started asking to go back to ‘the festival’ and talking about how much fun she had at ‘the festival.’ I guess she has enjoyed milking her boo boo for every ounce of sympathy she can get. We’ve all been shown her boo boo a bajillion times!

didn't know about the petting zoo! would have definitely taken the boys...we just did the festival part this year. bummer! glad HG had fun...we have a bounce house that she can come play on when the weather gets nice!
