Life Is Good

On Saturday, we went downtown with Peggy and Grandma to check out the Life Is Good sale on Main Street. They kind of have an obsession with the brand, but it certainly works out well for us, especially Baby Girl. ;) It turns out that the Heritage Festival was going on that day as well, so there were a ton of people out and about…and it was probably the most windy day I can remember in recent history. Whew!

After we shopped around, we walked over to the Peabody to say hi to the duckies and then took Peggy and Grandma to Huey’s for the first time. That’s the best place downtown for little ones to eat- a wall full of windows to watch all the passersby and no way for anyone to notice that they’ve made a mess. Not to mention, she’s really impressed with their mini corn dogs. A great time was had by all!

A balloon is endless entertainment and brings so much joy. Thankfully, they were willing to give her another one when the first one floated to the ceiling.CF6C4201 She was really excited about standing on the red carpeted stairs that the ducks take up to the fountain. By the way, these shoes are her newest obsession. I can’t get them off of her.CF6C4206CF6C4241CF6C4248Such a HG face- nose scrunchCF6C4267CF6C4271 “Hey, Daddy!!!!!”CF6C4281CF6C4298CF6C4311 Silly faces at Daddy for taking our pictureCF6C4323 Learning “Bread and Butter'”CF6C4336

For the record, on Sunday night, we tried to take advantage of Members’ Night at the zoo. As we approached the zoo with Grandma and Peggy, raindrops starting hitting our windshield, and unfortunately, it didn’t let up. Granddaddy and Spiffer had already arrived and were waiting for us just inside the gate as we parked. We got HG out of her seat, and while we put on HG’s socks and shoes, it started to POUR. Like monsoon. When we realized this wasn’t going to happen, baby girl started to break down. It’s a miracle we were able to get her back into her seat, although it did require me getting out into the rain and shaking my finger into the back seat.

We all ended up meeting at Old Venice for dinner, and it was a good thing that we canceled our zoo plans. A crazy storm came through spinning out tornado warnings and wild lightening, thunder, and horrible rain throughout the area. The zoo actually closed later that night as they lost power. We had a great time in our own version of a hurricane party, stuffing our faces with Italian food and wine. We spent the night laughing at ourselves as we were wrapped up in extra napkins to dry us off and warm us up. Thankfully, the weather had cleared Olive Branch by the time we made it home. What a night!
