Friday was a big day! We started the day meeting Finley, Callum’s brand new little sister. Helen Grace wasn’t sure what to think about her but liked watching her from afar. Then, we had an indoor picnic with our friends Kelly and Grant and really had a great time catching up. We haven’t seen Grant since he started walking, so Helen Grace was a little taken by surprise!
Around dinnertime, a car full of cousins arrived from Jackson to kick off HG’s birthday celebration weekend. Helen Grace was asleep when they got here, and I was nervous about how she would react when she woke up and found her house full of people. I was pleasantly surprised when I brought her downstairs. She saw Worth, Grace Ann, Hayes, and Hastings outside on her play set, and she jumped out of my arms and ran to join them. The girls spent the rest of the night running around the yard, blowing bubbles, having tea parties, and drawing with chalk on the sidewalk…it was such a treat to see the gaggle of girls being children together! They were all so good with HG and treated her like a princess. Meanwhile, all the grown ups sat around the kitchen table or out on the patio, watching the kiddos play. It was great to host all my Daniels’ family in our new house. Helen Grace belly laughed all night long and was so sad to say good night. What a sweet birthday treat to have such fun family fellowship!!
