The Lion King

On a very cold afternoon this past Sunday, we had a great girls’ day at the Orpheum to see The Lion King with the Coats. Beforehand, we chowed down on some pizza at Aldo’s, and the girls had fun playing with pizza dough while Emily and I caught up. Then we headed over to the theatre and found our seats. The girls were enthralled when the actors/animals came down the aisles, and we all loved the show. When they sang “Can You Feel the Love Tonight,” HG leaned over to me and excitedly said, “This is what we danced to with the boys at school for Valentine’s!”

After the play ended, we ran to the gift store and restroom, and as we came back through the lobby, Emily noticed one of the lead actors, Scar, walking by, in street clothes but with his face paint on. She stopped him, and we all had a starstruck conversation. So very cool to see him so up close and personal. We had a great day out on the town and enjoying some fun girl time!

Toohig Tidbits: February

“When my friend is scared to try something, I tell them, ‘You have it in you. You just have to find it.’”

HG asked to see a picture of the three wise men. When I explained that they lived thousands of years ago and that we don't really know what they looked like, she said, "You mean *nobody* knows what they looked like?! Not even Google?!"

After pulling a card at school for not minding her teacher, she knew she was in big trouble. In an effort to get back in my good graces, she told me that she made up a song at recess and asked if I wanted to hear it. The words were, “Parents forgive…”

We were watching a show about finding a hobby, something to do that makes you happy. I asked HG, “What do you like to do? What makes you happy?” She said, “Mommy.” Aaaand she can have whatever she wants at that point.

Valentine’s School Party

On Wednesday, we celebrated Valentine’s Day at HG’s SAA party. The kids made a piece of fingerprint artwork, decorated their Valentine bag for Friday’s exchange, and made a snack bag of pink and red sweets. At HG’s request, we grabbed a quick lunch at Chick-fil-A and then headed to Central Park to play with Lawson and enjoy the spring-like weather. Of course, we had to share a cupcake afterward!

Toohig Tidbits: January

I jokingly asked her to pack my suitcase. She sassed back at me, “Not happening, girl.”

In the Orlando airport, she told me no one stole her because she made her ‘mad face,’ like she was going to hiss.

“I like enjoying you.” (to Mama)

She told me that her journal was ‘what do you love about your mama?’ Her response was, “She spends time with me.”

I was mocking HG whining, and she told me, “That is not appropriate.”

“I don’t like you and Daddy bossing me around all the time. It’s boring.”

Measuring with Peggy…HG is dying for the day that she’s taller than Peg!IMG_20150119_180005647HG had lunch with her third cousin, Ella, while I was in Oxford last weekend. Since the wheezing and chest pain hit on Sunday afternoon, we had to go to a minor med. (You know she doesn’t feel good when she agrees to leaving the house in her pajama pants instead of a dress.) HG’s oxy sat levels were around 92 after several breathing treatments, so they made us ride in an ambulance to LeBonheur. I wasn’t terribly happy about not being able to drive ourselves, but once we got there and saw the waiting room that was busting at the seams, we were pleased with our dramatic entrance to the ER. We saw a doctor pretty quickly, got steroids and breathing treatments, and had a chest x-ray. Given the chance to head home or get admitted for the night, we chose to sleep in our own bed. It turned out to be a good decision, and with a day of rest on Monday, she was as good as new.2015-01-25 16.46.382015-01-25 17.33.262015-01-25 19.39.582015-01-25 19.58.30This ‘I’m ready to go’ pose was eerily similar to one we saw on her first LeB stay in 2012…2015-01-25 20.30.07Sept 2012photo 8{Back to 2015} At a follow up appointment at her doctor on Monday.
