John’s Birthday

While he won’t admit to having one, John had a birthday this week. He was off work, and HG was out of school. Lucky ducks. Mama had to work! I did leave at lunch though and meet them at the zoo with Spiffer and GD.

We came home for a nap, and then everyone came over for Corky’s and cake (Grandma did it- I had nothing to do with a cake for a birthday that did not exist!). Addison put on HG’s cowgirl boots and marched all over the house, so proud of herself! Fun night with family and friends.

We love you, John, and are so thankful for another fun and funny year together!

IMG_5744 IMG_5749 HG went all out with artwork for John this year. She painted a coffee mug, a sign that we hung in the garage, and then made a card. Precious. John really loved them all.2014-04-18 14.25.45 2014-04-18 14.25.59 2014-04-18 17.02.49 2014-04-18 19.11.54 Clapping for Addison (although HG was a little jealous of Addie taking her shoes)2014-04-18 19.12.25 2014-04-18 19.12.31 2014-04-18 19.21.562014-04-18 19.21.59I’ve lost her!2014-04-18 21.02.53-2

Dance Pictures

So Helen Grace’s spring dance recital happened to fall on the same May weekend of William’s Tulane graduation. She didn’t hesitate a second when I asked her if she’d rather dance in her recital or go see William in New Orleans- “New Orleans!!!!,” was her answer. So we still did costume pictures, but she won’t actually dance in the recital. She loved putting on her ruffly skirt and running around the studio with her gal pals!

Cedar Hill Farm at Easter Time

After school last Tuesday, we headed to Cedar Hill Farm with Spiffer and Granddaddy to enjoy the beautiful blue sky and sunshine! (We had planned on going after school on Monday with the Coats and Eldreds, but a monsoon rained out our plans.) By some stroke of luck, we were the only people there on Tuesday and enjoyed having the place to ourselves, despite a bit of a chill in the air.

Maybe because she wasn’t overwhelmed with the normal crowd, HG felt brave enough to try the huge slide AND the zip line for the first time. She LOVED both of them. After the slide, she jumped up and down, squealing, “That was so fun!” 2014-04-15 15.55.15-1 2014-04-15 15.55.16-1P1040963 P1040971 Queen of the haystack!!2014-04-15 16.10.02 She had to ride Oreo, as always.2014-04-15 16.19.09 Easter isn’t complete without dyed Easter chicks, right?P1040990 And (non-dyed) ducks too!P1040993 2014-04-15 16.35.09 2014-04-15 16.38.55 Counting to make sure she had her 12 eggs2014-04-15 16.39.10 P1050007 P1050009 She talked GD into getting on the swing with her. Day of Easter Egg Hunts

Saturday was a glorious day spent hunting eggs with our favorite little baby girl.

First, we celebrated Farrah’s first birthday with an egg hunt complete with face painting, flower balloons, a moon bounce, the Easter Bunny (she was NOT interested), and bubble wands. BIG hit.

After we took a good Saturday afternoon nap, Spiffer and Granddaddy came to pick up HG for a slumber party. She had her bags packed on Friday morning, so she barely stopped to give us a kiss as she ran out the door. While John and I enjoyed a nice dinner date, she had an Easter egg hunt at their house, played in sand, painted her heart out, and enjoyed her new favorite snack- mozzarella sticks- on the porch. I’m surprised she ever came home!
