HG’s Actual Birthday

Since HG’s birthday was the day after school ended, she got to celebrate at school on May 16th. I brought her lunch and a cookie cake to share with her buddies, and then she read a book to her class. She also got the much desired glitter in her hair and lots of pumps of smell-good body spray. What every third grade girl dreams of!

On her actual birthday, I took her and as many of her friends that I could fit in my car to have lunch and play at one of those jumpy places. After three hours, I finally had to drag them out of there, and then we had pizza and caramel cake with her grandparents. It was a perfectly Helen Grace day!

It’s amazing how excited she was about a mister water bottle.

And personalized stationery too!

But all she really wanted was rollerblades

HG had to immediately put on the rollerblades and go outside, and of course, little sissy couldn’t be left out. So off we go in our pajamas and with Cress singing into her microphone. We were quite the sight!

Granddaddy and Spiffer kept Cressey busy while I snuck out with the birthday girl.

A cute note to add…John and I were taking a pic with HG, and slowly and quietly, Cressey backed herself into place right next to us. She didn’t want to be left out! So cute!

9:21 p.m. – officially NINE!

HG’s School Birthday Celebration

For Helen Grace’s school group birthday celebration on May 18th, we took her class to a local cooking school where they learned how to make cupcakes and cookies. We had personalized aprons for each of them, and they had a ball getting their hands dirty making the cupcake dough, scooping it out, rolling out the cookie dough, cutting the cookies, and decorating their creations. While the girls enjoyed pizza and lemonade, their extra take-home goodies cooked. Rachel, Olivia, Bella Marie, and Helen Grace blew out their candles, and we all enjoyed another one of Perla’s delicious masterpieces! We all had a great time celebrating our girlies!

Helen Grace is 9

Helen Grace turned nine on May 25, 2018, the day after she finished the third grade. A few words from my guest blogger, the birthday girl herself…

My favorite thing about being 9 is that I get to celebrate with my friends. Momma is so sad, she says ‘my baby is all grown up’ and I say ‘mamma’ and she says ‘what?!’

Birthday morning. All she wanted was rollerblades. She never really gave us anything she wanted or needed, and while she was appreciative of all she received, she told me we didn’t have to do all of that. She has rollerbladed every available minute since then though, so I can say it’s a hit!

9:21 p.m., her actual birthday moment. Even though I was begging to go to sleep, she insisted on staying up until the very minute!

She’s around 54 inches tall and 62 pounds. Still in a booster and MAD about it. Asthma has been pretty under control with her daily inhaler.

Still wants to get in our bed any chance she gets and likes to talk until she falls asleep at night. All the WORDS!

Just lost her first tooth in at least two and maybe three years. (She lost the middle top four and middle bottom four and then stopped losing them for a long time. This one is just to the left of her middle bottom ones, and it fell out while she was eating ice cream at Grandma’s.)

Loves to borrow my phone and text her grandparents

Loves her iPad and plays Minecraft (and watches videos about it) constantly

Is a very confident and energetic bike rider

Begs to go to EDA so she can climb on the monkey bars. Pretty fearless with physical stuff- cantering, climbing walls, zip lines, etc.

Still loves her horse back riding

Has taken guitar this school year and soccer this spring and enjoyed both. Jury is still out what she will choose to do this coming year.

Loves to read and can read several books simultaneously

While she is good at math, she detests studying for it (or really anything for that matter).

She’s very carefree and worries about very little. Dedicated to her buddies and their happiness though.
