Toohig Tidbits: June

"Thank you for fixing me, Mommy" - Cressey after she stubbed her toe and I put ice on it

I called Cressey 'baby doll,' and she said, "Yeah, I'm a human."

"You a stinker, Mama!"

"Gotta be brave and strong" - Cressey to her baby doll as she was putting her on a toy horse

Cress and I were trying to keep up with HG as she fast walked through Target. Cressey said, "Sissy's on a mission!"

As we were getting ready to go one day, I couldn't find Cressey's shoes. I looked in the den, in the kitchen, in my room. Nothing. I exasperatedly looked at her and asked, "Where are your shoes?" She had put them on the shoe rack in the laundry room WHERE THEY BELONG!

She's had some tough days lately with separation anxiety, so after Mullins on June 26th, she and I were cuddling in the chair. She squeezed and patted my arm and said, "I miss you so much, Mama."

"Chick a way" = Chick-fil-A

Cress is really into putting on my makeup these days. Brings back memories of HG doing the same thing!

Dressed up for Joiner's birthday party

READY for swim lessons!

She was SO EXCITED about swim lessons. We had to pickup HG from theatre camp and then book it to swim, so we were a few minutes late. Cressey walked right in and tried to hop in the pool. Ms. Melissa had to grab her by the arm. Surprisingly, HG was a little protective and cautious to leave her!

She ran out squealing, "I had so much fun! Mommy, so much fun!" She went through Thursday, willingly though increasingly not as excited. She'd walk in on her own accord but would cry a bit during her lesson. Thursday's lesson was in the rain, and she was such a trooper! Friday, it was rainy again, so I let her skip.

She fell asleep in the car, but Grandma was here when we got home. I tried to wake her up, but she needed a little more cuddle time before waking up.

Into a good book

Fun at Spiffer's

Super Cressey!

Happy after swim lesson in the rain on Thursday- I wouldn't have been nearly such a cooperative participant!

Fun with Poppy

Killing time at the library

Crazy eyes

A rainbow greeted us outside after Seafood Junction- Cress was so excited!

A snack with Presley

The Blackmans came to town, and we met them at Bellevue with the Bakers. What a fun morning!

Dinner at Babalu in Overton Square

A little cray cray on the way home

First time HG put Cressey to bed all by herself. She begged to do it, and she did a fantastic job!

CFA with Norah

Granddaddy surprised us at the barn for riding lesson

Isn't this sweet? Sweet sisterly moments

Petting zoo at SAA was a HUGE HIT

This lemur was insanely cute and a little wild! He loved sitting on people's heads!

A nice little lunch date with my big girl, full of all the words after theatre camp

She got a princess crown at Mullins and wore it proudly for days.

After a painful drop off at Mullins, her sweet teacher Mary cheered her up by painting her nail. She thought she was FANCY!

"Send this picture to daddy!"

Father's Day- we sure have the best daddies!

Poppy love at HG's softball tournament

A CFA breakfast before first day of princess camp at SAA- she was SO EXCITED!

And then we got there, and she just LOST IT. I mean full-on body cling and wailing. I stayed for 10 minutes, trying to let her adjust and calm down, and I finally decided I had to leave and see how she did without me there. After 10 more minutes, the director and teacher talked me into leaving, and they called soon to tell me she was happy. At pick up, she was happy and said she was glad she stayed. Sadly, the whole week went the same way- awful drop off but lots of fun.

CANTERING OVER CROSSRAILS FOR THE FIRST TIME- EEEEKKKK!!!

Baby in a box

More pre-princess camp happiness

And happiness at pick up- she's still wearing that crown with jewels around town

Princesses Norah and Cressey

With Lilah after theatre practice one day

HG GOT THE GAME BALL during the one tournament game that I didn't go to (was home putting C to bed). SAD! But so happy for her. She couldn't have been happier and was on cloud nine for days. She got a hit which let two others score runs, which caused them to win the game. Clutch!

Sleeping with the ball that night

Another tournament game

Big sister in a box

What we are usually greeted by when we come home

And they WON the whole tournament!! HG was on fire, so excited and proud! Loved seeing these girls cheer each other on!

Telling daddy all about it (I made him stay home that night so I didn't miss anything else!)

Two pools of sunshine, two kitty cats

HG asked to make bags for the homeless

Showing Spiffer and GD around Crosstown Concourse

Whoops!

Keep practicing, sister!

For Evie's birthday, the girls did the ropes course at Shelby Farms.

A summer thunderstorm blew in while they were on the course, and they all got drenched! I am very, very thankful for HG's climbing experience that kept her safe during that dismount in the rain!

All cuddled up in towels for pizza and cupcakes

Everyone in mama's bed

Ice cream with Norah

Poor Bluesy

Lunch with Delaney and Hayes

Their first DG alum meeting!

Happy to see us at Mullins!

I gave up fighting over clothes, and in an effort to get her out the door and to school on time, she went in her pajamas. I thought she'd get tired of it and change into her dress while at school, but nope- she was still happily playing in it that afternoon!

Sushi and hot tub date with Emily, Melissa, and Brandy- precious friends!

Pony camp show

Her last ballet class was a parent demonstration. Like princess camp, it started off happily and soon went down hill...

She didn't even dance one whole song before she clammed up and stood by the wall. It was just me, HG, and Norah's mom and baby sister. Grrr.

Oh, but she was happy for her certificate and candy!

"Don't mind me," says Blue.

Water day at Mullins- she went down the water slide one time and then was happily done!

Fun at Spiffer and GD's

"Mama, take a pic of me holding Elsa's hand."

"Now, Mama, you hold her hand, and I take your picture."

LOOK! LOOK!

And folding towels! I am speechless!

"A wainbow! A wainbow! It's boo-tiful!"

John, Cressey, and I left OB in the Jeep and were headed back home after a day at the pool. We were worried about it raining on us but were still dry until John purposefully swerved into a huge puddle of water, sending a WALL of water onto us! Cress and I SCREAMED, and John just laughed his head off.

Saturday night TCBY tradition with HG, Addie, and Ryan
