Toohig Tidbit: Early August

The first week of August was spent trying to squeeze in as much fun in the last week of summer. We hopped on a last minute invite from a few SAA girls to try MemPops, a newish popsicle place down the street from our house. We ran into a SDS family of boys while we were there, and the mamas loved passing around the baby.

FIRST SISTERS BATH!!! HG was simply ecstatic to get Cressey in the tub with her. I was both a nervous wreck and a ball of emotion. I’ve always dreamed of a day with TWO babies playing in the tub!

My sorority sister, Blair, has a daughter about HG’s age and lives in Tupelo, and as I read some of her Facebook posts last summer, I realized we were going through the same fertility battle. I sent her a message, we caught up, and we talked and cried and prayed through pretty much every step of our IVF procedure as we were about two weeks apart on our latest IVF journey. Her baby girl, Livingston, was born two weeks after Cressey, and they were finally able to meet in August. Before school started, we drove down (with a very fussy baby which caused a very fussy 7 year old) to see them and have lunch. The mamas teared up a lot and kept hugging, and the big girls rolled their eyes a lot at their dramatic and emotional mamas! It was so special to get to introduce all of our girls to each other.

John had been holding Cressey, and after he handed her to me, I looked down and saw this in Cressey’s lap. I panicked at the thought of poo on the loose and then remembered that John had been eating a granola bar while he was holding her…

Riding Jake, a new-to-HG horse. He’s no pony, and it’s a little shocking to see her on such a tall horse. But Ms. Jody says she is so much more coordinated, strong, and obedient at following instructions that she is ready for him. HG LOVES riding a big horse and has been really excited about lessons since Jake has been introduced.
