CMT: Two Months

Two month old check up stats (June 9, 2016):

  • 23.5 inches long, 75-90th percentile
  • 41.5 inch head circumference, 95th percentile
  • 13 lbs 15 oz, 95th percentile
  • Weight to length 75th percentile
  • 3 shots, one oral medicine
  • Has an umbilical hernia that developed when her tummy muscles didn’t fully grow together. (It popped up a week or two after she was born.) Because it is soft and isn’t painful, they will let it be until she’s 3 or 4 years old, and it will likely resolve itself.

Around eight weeks, she really started laughing and even cooing. She’ll recognize our voices when we enter the room, and her face will break out into a huge smile. I’ve also noticed her start to rub her eyes when she’s tired.

We put her in bed (bassinet in our room) around 9-10 pm, she’ll sleep until 2-3 am, have a bottle and go back to sleep until 5-6. She’s a little restless since that’s when John is getting ready for work, but she’ll go back to sleep around 7. She’s up for a bit, naps for an hour around 9:30, and will spend the afternoon playing and napping. Around dinnertime, she naps again, and she’ll hang out with John while I tackle HG. Once HG is asleep, we put her in the ‘sleep hold’ and get her ready for bed.

She eats constantly, 4-5 ounces at least every two hours. She definitely likes a paci. She’ll go to anyone. She is very vocal and has extremely strong head/neck control. Since she has more control now, she doesn’t try to throw herself off your shoulder as much anymore.

Her eyes are insanely blue, and her hair is mostly brown with a reddish look in certain lights.

She now gets a good grasp on a fist full of hair, so watch out!

She’s alright in the car, as long as the car is moving. But heaven forbid you come across a speed bump!

HG grew up listening to a nature lullaby CD at bedtime (thanks, Edie and Gene), and I have actually become addicted to it as well. Since I sleep with the music on, Cressey has gotten used to it too. In the car this week, she was fighting a nap so I turned it on, and that sweet baby fell right to sleep.

HG is still the sweetest big sister. She has no interest in bodily functions, but if Cressey is happy and clean, HG will usually want to hold her. She’ll always run to say hello or goodbye to her. While the newness has worn off a bit and she’s focusing more on her own activities, she definitely wants her to be a part of things and is very loving to her and about her.

HG was very traumatized about C getting her shots and wanted to step out in the hall. I told her that if I couldn’t escape, neither could she! She hid her face until it was over. C did as well as could be expected with the shots and calmed down with a bottle.
