Rebecca and her kiddos made the trek to Memphis last weekend for a long awaited zoo trip with us and the Harris girls. How is it possible that it’s been two years since our last zoo visit together?? Mallory and Elliott were stroller babies in 2012, and now they are big girls running around and William has joined us in the stroller!
Due to some amazing stroke of luck at the last minute, Rebecca and her crew were able to spend Saturday night in Memphis at Whitney’s house, so Helen Grace packed our bags too and we all had a big slumber party. SEVEN kids under seven years old in one house.
We’ve had a lot of storms lately, and a big one took out Whitney’s power for Thursday and Friday. It miraculously came back on really early Saturday morning, so we headed back there after the zoo. Soon after a brief rain shower mid-afternoon, the power went out AGAIN. We had planned on two babysitters coming over to entertain the kiddos while the mamas went out for a quick dinner, but with the power out, there was no way that was happening. We chewed on our nails for the next two hours while the girls played obliviously, and within 15 minutes of the babysitters’ expected arrival time, THE POWER CAME BACK ON!!!! Man, we mamas did some kind of wild happy dance when the power popped back on, and off to Itta Bena we went!
One of the babysitters was a St. Agnes after school teacher and familiar face, so Helen Grace was really excited to get in her pjs and hang out with her buddies and Ms. Laura. When we got home at 10:30, Haney and HG came running to meet us at the door (and Leighton was awake on the couch). I was so surprised!
We had a wonderful day and night together and are so thankful for this impromptu time of making memories.
2012 and 2014: A lot has changed in two years! Adickes, Haney, Leighton, Elliott, Mallory, Helen Grace We’ve finally added a rooster to the group- William!
