Bronchitis, Dirt, and Eating Out

Bronchitis isn’t quite done with Helen Grace. It first hit her back in February. She started wheezing on again/off again late Monday/early Tuesday with a little fever and lots of coughing, so we headed to the doctor on Wednesday morning. I drug Spiffer along with us for fear of having to wrangle her for another breathing treatment, but HG actually ended up doing really well. She balked at taking her temperature and checking her ears, but after the nurse and doctor showed her on me what they were trying to do, she gladly agreed. The doc gave her some antibiotics which she fights taking, but she seems to be feeling a little better.

On Friday, Helen Grace and I headed to story time at the library, and we were pleased to find a big ole bulldozer parked right in front. They’ve been doing construction work for weeks along the main road in town, and every time we go through it, HG asks, “What they doing?” We’ve explained that they are putting pipes under the road to help with drainage, so of course, she wanted to check it out. We were lucky in that we found a very nice construction worker who let us peek down into the hole in the ground and see the pipe. Then he hopped in the bulldozer and showed her how it worked by moving some dirt around. She was fascinated! Now I’m trying to convince John that she will want to be an engineer as a result of this experience, instead of a construction worker!

After story time, we met Spiffer and Bubba for lunch. HG was a ham as always and had a ball playing with them. She thought she was so cool because she sat in the booth next to Spiffer instead of Mommy. It’s the little things.

We met Emmy and CB for dinner that night for a much needed catch up. CB and HG cheesed out with my phone. What funny kids!!cb1 cb2
