What’s Going On

Here are some recent funnies from the Toohigs…

“Yes” is FINALLY in Helen Grace’s vocabulary!

When we’ve been playing on the screened in porch with the kitties, she loves to “shoo” them back inside.

We were reading a book about baby animals and mommy animals, and I asked her who her mommy was, trying to get her to point to me. She looked at me and said, “Sha!”

She and John were drawing on the Glo Doodle the other night, and John drew a kitty cat. She started kissing the kitty and wouldn’t stop- she loved it.

We can now get her hair in a ponytail. While she thought it was cool while we talked to her about putting it in one, she didn’t like it so much when the pony tail holder hit her hair. Lasted less than a minute.

One night this week, I said goodnight to HG in her bed while she was holding her baby doll and giving her a bottle. The best is when I am walking out of the room and tell her I love her and blow her a kiss, I hear a little kiss float across the dark room to me. Makes my heart leap!

Dare Devil

Since Grandma and Peggy are living it up in Manhattan for the sake of St. Patrick, Helen Grace got to hang out with Granddaddy and Spiffer today (she was out for Spring Break- great timing). They went up to my mom’s school and had a BLAST on the playground. I still can’t believe they got her to leave without a tantrum. The little dare devil did not disappoint as she threw herself down the slide and ran around like a wild woman. She obviously took a good nap for them…and in a big girl bed at that! We met them for dinner where Helen Grace told us all about her day, using her Little Gym sign language for “swing.” (Why didn’t I try sign language months ago??) So grateful that Helen Grace loves all her grandparents so much- and doesn’t miss us a bit!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day from my favorite little leprechaun! We hope that Grandma and Peggy had a great time walking in the St. Patty’s Day Parade in NYC today…Sláinte!!CIMG7937

We ‘Heart’ the Zoo

We couldn’t stand any more time inside with this cold, rainy weather, so when we saw that bright shiny thing pop up in the sky yesterday morning, we headed to the zoo with some friends. It was a little chilly at first, but by lunchtime, it was very comfortable. We fought a little bit of a Spring Break crowd, but that didn’t stop Callum, Alaina, Helen Grace, and HG’s baby doll from running from end to end! I have given up the fight to get her in and out of the stroller, so she rode in Callum’s wagon at times and walked the rest. As Helen Grace gets more and more interactive, each visit brings more words and animal sounds which makes it an even more rewarding experience. We had a great, sunshiny day!

Painting Divas

Last Wednesday afternoon we went to play with the Mattice girls. Their brave mama got out the paints, and the girls dived in! Helen Grace had such a good time following around Remle and Daily, and she was all about poking Frankie when she woke up.

Sunday Funday

We had a great Sunday and started the day off right with a 6:20 a.m. wake up call (instead of 5:20 a.m. due to Daylight Savings Time). We met Spiffer and Granddaddy at Bubba’s for lunch and let Helen Grace run wild, in and out and in and out. She conked out within a mile of Bubba’s driveway, and after her nap, we headed to the soccer field to support John’s soccer team. She had A BALL running around and playing…tons of giggling and throwing her head back…an adorable day with my favorite people!

Honk, Honk!

“Honk, Honk!” is the title of this post for two reasons…on Friday, Helen Grace had fun playing with Granddaddy and the geese in the neighborhood, as well as playing in Mommy’s car and honking the horn. It was a beautiful day, and we enjoyed some time outside as she stalked the geese and swung from the bridge. After a nap, I thought we would head outside again, but she stopped me in the garage and just had to get in my car. She played with the blinkers, wipers, and horn, and then she found my keys. She picked them up and put them RIGHT IN THE IGINITION and turned the car on…what?! Well, then she heard Barney come on and looked around like, “Where is he?!” She soon climbed over the console, strapped herself into the middle seat belt, and kicked her feet up. I handed her some snacks, and she sat there for a good while. At least we were getting some fresh air!

On Friday night, I met some of my college besties in Oxford for some girl time, delicious food, and shopping. They kept putting me off of taking pic (they get embarrassed by my need for pics), and sure enough, they did it enough that I eventually forgot to get one- those little rascals! We had a great time though…dinner at 208, dessert at the Downtown Grill (for the last time, sniff, sniff), and then back to the hotel to get in our pjs to talk ourselves to sleep. The next morning, we started the day off right at Big Bad Breakfast (AWESOME) and then hit the square for some shopping. Rebecca will be having her third little girl, Elliott Kate, within a month, so we truly treasured our grown up, child-free girl time. I found this cute kitty cat stool in Oxford for my cute baby girl, and she has been standing on it constantly ever since.
