All Saints Day

The day after Halloween, All Saints Day, Helen Grace was out of school for parent-teacher conference day. She spent the day with Granddaddy and Spiffer, who spoiled her rotten by taking her to Sega Gym and then the zoo. I’m shocked she wanted to come home after that day of fun!

We had the best parent-teacher conference, and I am so, so relieved and thankful. Being a teachers’ kid, I think it’s important to be realistic about your child’s strengths and weaknesses and appreciate that your child’s teacher has a unique perspective on their personality and development.  But you still want to hear that you are raising a good, smart kid, right?!

Mrs. Gossett said that she couldn’t pick out Helen Grace as the youngest in the class even if she tried. She’s mature, socially on par, and doing well in academics, confirming that we made the right decision pushing her forward as the youngest in JK. She has plenty of friends and is blossoming more every day. We can help from home by continuing to work on phonics and sounding out letters. HG’s interest in that is increasing by the day as she has started trying to read signs, our tshirts, etc. She is keeping us on our toes, as usual!
