Duck Duck Goose

After an early birthday dinner for Spiffer, Helen Grace and her grandmamas were outside playing and spotted the baby duckies out in the lake. The rest of us grabbed the leftover hamburger buns (and a camera), and we all headed after them. While the mama duck and babies were smart and stayed out in the water, two big ole geese were apparently very hungry. They still freak out HG a little bit, so she was quickly in my arms, although she had fun throwing the bread. We walked around the lake for a little bit and let HG run (and jump) out some energy, and the mama and baby ducks must have dropped their edge because they got too comfortable. As we approached our house, the duckies were between our fence and our neighbor’s…and Helen Grace tore off chasing them! Man, I’ve never seen ducks run that fast- and through our fence and into our yard! By the time HG got to our fence and inside, they had made their escape. Hilarious!

We had a great, casual night celebrating all that Spiffer means to us, and we hope she enjoys her real birthday (today)! We love you, Spiffer!!!!
