Lazy Weekend

We have had a slow, lazy, and wet weekend- which was much needed (well, we could have done without the incessant rain)! We had minimal social events…lunch with Billy, Sarah, Isaiah, CB, and Emily on Saturday, dinner with the Englands and McCullys that night, and dinner with Granddaddy, Spiffer, and Bubba tonight. Great mix of baby girl time and grown up couple time. Here are some highlights from our weekend...

While John was sitting on the couch, Helen Grace would run from the Tupperware cabinet in the kitchen and bring him one piece at a time, over and over again. After he had a lap full, he started handing them back to her, and she put the entire stack back up in the cabinet.

When she falls or hurts herself, I’ll tell her to come to me and let Mommy kiss it and make it feel better, and she runs to me for a kiss.

Apparently having Barney on the tv, iPhone, and car DVD isn’t enough. Helen Grace has now discovered that she can watch Barney on my laptop on YouTube, so she constantly hops up in my lap when I’m sitting on the couch, saying, “Barney! Barney!”

The word of the weekend has been, “No,” and that goes along with an outstretched hand motion. She now does not want us to help her get in her car seat and demands to do it on her own.

I forgot to mention that last week at Grandma’s, she was in the middle of dinner and fell asleep in her highchair. Luckily, she leaned back and put her head on the cushion instead of falling forward into her spaghetti o’s! She had fought a nap all day, and when I showed up to pick her up 30 minutes later and woke her up as we tried to put her in the car seat, she was TICKED. She cried all the way home and fell into a puddle as soon as we walked in the door, so we changed her diaper and put her into bed right in her clothes. That child slept from 6:30 p.m. to almost 6:00 a.m.!

Jumpy!! She is such a little mama. I caught this video tonight before bedtime when she didn’t realize I was watching her. She loves to pat and kiss her baby doll.
